Adoption Process
The Beyond Poodle Method combines 3 of the best protocols for raising successful, well socialized, and confident dogs. We will have done everything necessary to make certain your pup is well adjusted before going home with you. How do we do it?
Let’s start at the very beginning, shall we?
Step 1: Fill out the questionnaire
Once you’ve decided you want a Beyond Poodle puppy, you’ll apply by filling out our questionnaire. This is the first step to ensure you are matched with the right puppy for your lifestyle, so please fill it out honestly and completely. Keep in mind we get many applications every week, so please be patient as we take the time to respond to yours. Once we’ve reviewed your application, we will reach out to go over next steps.
Step 2: Schedule a call with us
We’re all about matching matching matching. We will schedule a 1-on-1 call with you to discuss in more detail what you’re looking for in a dog, so that we can do our absolute best to give you the puppy of your dreams.
Step 3: Pay the deposit
After you’ve decided to move forward with a Beyond Poodle pup, the next step is to pay the $500 deposit. As you wait for your pup, feel free to add us on instagram and stay updated on our litters!
Step 4: Wait for your puppy to be born!
Wait times can be 6 months to 1 year since the mamma dogs only give birth twice per year. But your pup will be worth the wait! We will notify you when a litter is born, and a few weeks later we’ll have found your match.
Step 5: Schedule pick up or delivery
Pick up:
Some puppies are ready to go home at 8 weeks, others at about 10.5 weeks. Regardless, if you’re local, you are welcome to come meet your new family member at 6 weeks old to see how they live and grow. To ensure the pups receive optimal socialization with their litter and mom, we ask that you allow some flexibility with the pick up date as some need extra TLC before they’re confident enough to take on the world.
Delivery:
We offer delivery of our pups with a Nanny. Puppies will not be shipped or flown in undercarriage and will be supervised and cared for the entire journey. You will be responsible for travel expenses and a flat rate of $300 for the Nanny’s time.
Step 6: Training
You will be working with a professional VSPDT certified dog trainer (me!) as part of the agreement. If you are local, our sessions can be in your home. If not they will take place on zoom. Training your dog will be a fun and rewarding experience. Sessions will take place once a week at a set time and you will be provided with exercises to complete with your pup leading up to each session.
Step 7: Follow up
We will have check-ins at 6 months of age, 9 months and 18 months. Any behavioral issues that come up can be addressed during this period through training in a positive, science-based approach. We keep tabs on all our pups (yes all!) and love to get updates on how they're doing.
In the event that something occurs and you cannot keep your dog (things DO happen) they come back to us. Ultimately we are responsible for the welfare of the dogs we produce and are more than equiped to rehome a dog responsibly. Should there be a friend or family member that you would like us to consider as a candidate just let us know.
